Making A Difference

A reflection from Kenny Vallespin, Officer, HR Business Partner, on serving the community.
SERVING A CAUSE
As a veteran of the US Army, I believe there is no greater sense of fulfillment than to serve a cause greater than yourself, to give your time, energy and resources for others. I am proud to work at The Bank of San Antonio because our team continually strives to be strong corporate citizens in our community.
Winston Churchill stated, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
The call of duty to serve, volunteer, and give is an outward expression of love, kindness and compassion. It is evidence of inner transformation, of having a heart for humanity, which is what I see evidenced through our acts of service here at the bank. The power of each of our volunteer efforts, large or small, are multiplied when we join together to make a greater impact.

I believe in the power of giving to make a difference not only for today, but for future generations to come. The simple gifts of each of our time and energy can make a world of difference to fellow citizens and organizations in need.
In fact, sustainability for the next generation depends on the pathway we build today, so to give now is to lay another stepping stone to success for future leaders.
This Thanksgiving, never underestimate the power of generosity because each of us has the power to make a difference.
